Hey everyone! I’m super psyched to show you my bedroom closet overhaul!! Let me start off by saying, our new house does NOT lack in the storage space department… There is storage just about anywhere you look, which is super rare for a early 1920’s circa home. So we got lucky! However, the master room closets really do take up a TON of space, which means we lost wall space for other things, for example: my vanity. waaaah!!! So we are moving the beloved vanity to the guest room, and decided to create something inside the closet overhaul that included a space for me to ready myself up. And it turned out great!!!
BEFORE: the closet as it was before was pretty bleh, and had *GASP* MIRRORED sliding doors! YICKS! Those were the first things to go! (the husband joked for weeks that we would hang them on the ceiling… A joke alright! lol)
His side of the closet is a nice ceder, and I’m thinking it was the original closet to the room. Mine was old particle board nailed onto the wall, with some simple white wire shelving. I wanted this side because of the window that was hidden inside. My purpose was so that I could utilize the natural lighting for the Vanity.
Originally we were going to purchase all new shelving, and create a closet system. However, the budget wasn’t so friendly. So we decided to revamp what he have, and make it our own. With a good cleaning the existing shelves could be replaced to where ever we wanted. So the first thing we did was come up with sketches of ideas that we wanted to do.
After we picked a design, (Option #1) I splurged at our local Home Goods store for some cute baskets and storage solutions. ($60) I then found some cute fabric (8 yards to be exact) ($20) and used some old baskets, etc. I re-purposed a mirror that was left behind in the master bath by painting it a nice pale pink. ($5) Luckily I found this cute touch powered makeup mirror with duel mirrors. This was a great deal at our church’s basement sale. ($3)
AFTER: So in total we spent $88! That’s a new closet space for LESS THAN $100!!! Not to mention, it looks fantastic!!!
I hope you enjoyed the first peak at #thekendigsnewdigs ! We are really so thrilled with the new place and I’m so excited to go room by room and make it our own. It has already come so far, and we only just begun! Stick around for some more reveals!
