Back in August I hosted a Bangin’ Luau Bash, and I wanted to find something to make for the meal. I wanted something that would be related to a luau and delicious, but also easy and not time consuming. So a old favorite, Ham BBQ Sandwiches would be a great way to go!
I’ve loved this recipe ever since I was little. My Nana (Mom’s Mom) would make these often when we all lived together growing up because it was an easy meal that we could make inexpensive, and quick.
Slow Cooker Ham BBQ
Chipped Ham (for this event I used 10 lbs to feed 30 people)
BBQ Sauce of choice (I used 80 oz. for the 10 lbs of ham: Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce)
1/2 CUP of water
1.Add the ham to your slow cooker or roaster, and pour water inside. Cook until heated through.
2. Add bbq sauce and cook through until the sugar in the sauce is CARAMELIZED. Keep warm until ready to serve!
Sometimes I’ll add a twist of sliced caramelized onions, or a spicy BBQ just for a kick! These are so simple that you can easily add whatever you want to make it your own. For this event I just chose to keep it simple, so I could really enjoy myself instead of worrying about the meal. Also, they were a HUGE hit! I pared it up with a great fresh fruit salad, and some chips.
