Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Many years ago, my great-grandfather Daniel was on a mission to find the perfect nativity scene. He was very strong in his catholic religion and felt that he couldn’t just decided on one.. it had to be the perfect one! So for many years he searched and searched.
It was then, in the spring of 1983 that he found this hand carved nativity. It was originally from India, and he paid $50 at a local craft show. He said he just knew it was the one as soon as they saw it. The beautiful carvings are so detailed and so delicate. They weren’t even expecting to stop in, it was completely by chance!
Luke 2:12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.
Luke 2:10-11 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
However, that summer tragedy struck. Daniel passed away while visiting with family at a reunion. Our family was heartbroken! However, thru time we have been able to heal those deep wounds.. and remember him in happy memories. One of those is this nativity that Pap just had to have! Starting that first Christmas and every year after we set it out and think of him. We can always feel his presence when you gaze up the sweet scene.
This has turned into a family keepsake that we all take the time to stop and admire. And even though I never met him… I know him. His memories live on thru the stories.
