Ok Mommas.. Raise your hand if you looked at yourself post-baby and don’t recognize your body anymore? That’s me. I have three beautiful babies and I count my blessings everyday. So please don’t think that I am body shaming myself, or anyone! The bottom line is no matter what size I am, I want to make sure that my body is healthy. When I look at myself I don’t see a healthy woman.
So let’s refocus. When I recently lost my mother when she was just shy of the age of 50, I made a conscious decision that I wanted to live a healthier life. Her mother, my grandmother also died at an early age. My genetic odds are against me. I decided leaving my family at an early age wasn’t an option that I was willing to take. I needed to break this cycle. I HAVE to prevent them from feeling the heartbreak of having a parent ripped away too early. I also wanted to make sure my children learned from my example of healthy choices and habits so that they could continue to break the cycle. Some serious life changes needed to happen!
My first step was to get a support system. My husband is my biggest cheerleader, and then a close second is a good friend of mine. She has a great Ora about herself that can make anyone feel that they can conquer the fight of unhealthy eating and work hard towards make a better self. She has been guiding me and teaching me so that I can be a better me.
The next step for me is to do the work! I have been working out to the 21 Day Fix. This week is my first week, and I know that as I get deeper it will get harder, but it is going well! I have been learning so much and I’m feeling the good burn every time I stand up or walk the stairs. I’m also making an effort to skip the 2:00 Halloween candy dig and replace it with a large glass of water!

Finally, I want to tell my story! I want to share with you because I want YOU to live healthier and longer. Be the change that your family needs so that you can have each moment with them that you all deserve. It’s going to be quite a journey! So I will be sharing some yummy recipes that I either come across or create myself as well as my progress.
Today especially I noticed that I’m making progress on teaching my kids the importance of self health. My daughter was pretending to exercise in our living room. I over heard her counting, “One – Two – Three – One Hundred!” She was doing jumping jacks and windmills. Then she proceeded to say, “OK, let’s take a break for some water!”. I melted a little from the cuteness, and then gave myself a giant pat on the back! She is learning this behavior from me!!! I was so excited to know my choices are not just for me, but she was learning them to.
We are breaking the cycle and creating a healthier life. Follow along to see the progress of how our lives change! I will conquer this!
