This month’s Create and Share Challenge is just in time for Mother’s Day! Cat from Pocketful of Posies and myself gathered together 5 super talented bloggers to create our own twist on a floral vase. I have to say, I’m pretty excited about all the different renditions of displays! Each blogger really brought it this round.
In light of this challenge landing itself in the center of the One Room Challenge, I decided to create something that I could toss into my decor for my project. You’ll have to check out the progress on my Master Bedroom Makeover!
As you can see from my inspiration boards that I am working in burgundy, gold tones, and gray. So this project was perfect for the space. So my next task was to decide on what medium I would use. I thought about using a few different things including: wine bottles, old jars, or even lined baskets… but after fishing in the kitchen I realized we have an over abundant amount of plastic cups. Some of these cups are doubles or triples, and some of them don’t even have the lids anymore! Between coffee cups and plastic kids cups… oye!
So since no one is going to miss them… Here is what I did in 3 simple steps!
DIY Upcycled Cup Vases
Old Plastic Cups
Paint of choice
- First I chose 3 different cups that had some sort of unique size and shape.
- Then I spray painted them with a gold metallic.
- After they were dry, I used a sponge brush to add the burgundy color.
Seriously… it was THAT EASY! Almost too easy! But.. that makes it a great options for kiddos to help out! What mother’s day project is complete without the help of the little ones. I even think a hand print would be an adorable addition!
So since this project didn’t take long at all, be sure to check out the other bloggers creations! They really brought it this challenge, you won’t be disappointed. Also, keep an eye out for next months challenge!
