This shop has been sponsored by certain manufacturers mentioned in this post. All opinions are mine alone. It’s here! The day is here!! IT’S REVEAL DAY! I have to admit that I have been so giddy with excitement to show you this room! This challenge by far has been my biggest challenge on the blog. I have designed rooms before, and I have done challenges before… but this was absolutely the most in-depth and involved process. We have put so much heart into the details and I just can’t wait for you to step inside to take a look around.
First, let me start at the beginning…. Linda from over at Calling It Home alongside House Beautiful Magazine host a challenge for bloggers twice a year! The One Room Challenge is a six-week challenge that bloggers can design a new space for their home. This is something that I have always wanted to do, but I was always so chicken! So this spring I decided to put my fears aside and go for it! Let me remind you of what space I chose…. Here is the before photos of our Master Bedroom that I introduced in WEEK ONE.
Then on WEEK TWO we showed everyone what an amazing difference can be made with a fresh coat of paint and carpet can do!
On WEEK THREE we focused on the pieces of heirloom furniture that I have collected throughout the years, including this old secretary desk that I re-purposed just for this challenge! You can find those details in WEEK FOUR, you’ll want to check that out!!
Last week was WEEK FIVE, and I introduced 5 Behind the Scenes Master Bedroom Hacks! Most of which aren’t showcased in the final reveal, so be sure to stop by that post and see if you can use any of those ideas in your bedroom space!
The past six-week have been a whirlwind, but in a great way. Let’s take a look at the big reveal!
Let’s take a look at that again… Are you as speechless as I am?
I am so in love with this space! It’s so crazy to think that this is our room! It has transformed into a space that we can feel relaxed and romantic. It went from being a plain worn canvas to a sanctuary just for us.
I used the colors of deep burgundy and gold to really pop against the neutral walls and bedding. I also wanted to add a twist of masculine industrial alongside the romantic pieces. So the lighting I chose for the bedside tables are these gorgeous swing arm desk lamps!
The Mr. and Mrs. Pillow cases are from this adorable company called Oh Susannah! I just love how they give a twist of personality to the space!
Overall the space doesn’t feel crowded. I was able to give every piece in the room a function, including the decorative milk crate that I placed behind the dressing chair. It holds some of my favorite books, so they are close at hand for late night reads.
Like I showed before, we transformed our old desk into two night tables! They are very functional now and hold a ton of storage.
I even utilized the middle drawer from the old desk to upcycle as a breakfast tea tray!
The white woodwork really creates a more open airy feel the space and gives us a focused view of the gorgeous dog wood out the window!
I think this is my new favorite room in our house! I love how we are really making this 100-year-old home into a house full of personality, light, and love.
Overall this project has surprised me! I was concerned with it being such a small space that it would be more difficult, or not have the personality of other projects. But I certainly proved myself wrong! Our sweet little haven is not only a space of comfort and love, it is a reminder that even the smallest of spaces can truly become something breathtaking and beautiful!
Thank you for stopping by to see the big reveal! I hope you come back and find something else to fall in love with!
